These exciting root veg are super easy to sow and grow. Here’s how to start them off, step by step

Beetroot is an easy starter crop for novice growers. Sow them direct outdoors in short rows from March and you’ll be pulling out their shiny red roots out within 11 weeks. For an extra bonus, you can thin out the seedlings and add the unwanted leaves to salads or as a garnish for other dishes.

Sow them under cloches now (March), and/or wait until mid-April for a June harvest. Seeds sown in late May won’t need any frost protection at all.

You will need

✿ String & posts ✿ Trowel

✿ Beetroot seeds ✿ Watering can ✿ Mild spring weather!
