Paint with plants
Get the French Impressionist look at home, by planting large areas in a restrained palette of colours, tamed with green. Use heleniums, rudbeckia and nasturtiums or alchemilla, geraniums, iris and cosmos. Weaving together a subtle tapestry of plants and foliage is as fashionable now as it was in Monet’s day – or possibly more so – and the best effect is achieved through using varieties that have relatively small f lowers that are prolifically produced. Daisies like marigolds and cosmos are good, as are echinops and eryngium, combined with statement shapes and plants such as roses, sunflowers, agapanthus, hollyhocks or peonies.
