Compose an artistic vista
Think of your garden as a picture. Monet’s subjects included softly billowing borders, pretty arbours clothed in climbers; his pink house with green shutters at the end of a long, fabulously floral path and a little boat moored in the lily pond. Add your own focal points – a brightly coloured bridge, building or even a bench in the distance draws the eye, while soft pinks and blues are characteristic of Normandy. Borrowing surrounding landmarks or trees can extend your garden into the distance.
