Embracing the dark side

Garden News (UK) - - What To Do -

As the leaf canopy closes over, despite the concrete chaos of my own creation, I’m enjoying the pre y things I planted in anticipation of shady spots. On the deck, I’m thrilled with tubs of hostas such as ‘Francee’ and ‘Frances Williams’ (www.thompson-morgan. com) – a career first success against slugs!

In the raised beds, Geranium

phaeum, foxgloves and granny’s bonnets ( aquilegia) are thriving, soon to be followed by astrantias from www.hayloftplants.co.uk and Nicotiana sylvestris ‘Only the Lonely’ from www.sarahraven.com. It’s early days, of course, but it’s lovely to see at least some things taking shape…
