Net your blackcurrants

Garden News (UK) - - What To Do -

Keep an eye on your currants as they’re coming into their own at the moment and are nearly ready to harvest. Weed carefully around the plants to reduce growing competition, water and feed them well, and check for pest damage – aphids can deplete vigour, and there are many animals that will want to steal those juicy fruits! Netting is key to you getting as much fruit as possible into the kitchen and not into the mouths of birds. Haxnicks Micromesh still allows fruit to set while giving a solid barrier from nibblers. Bird scarers help, too.
