Trim young lavender
To keep lavender plants bushy and compact they need trimming when the flowers start to fade. This is very important with young plants that grow quickly as, if not trimmed, they can become leggy and the plants will spread sideways. Trim off the flower stalks and cut back into the new growth to create a dome-shaped plant. Don’t prune back too hard though, as new shoots don’t always develop from woody stems. Keeping plants trimmed every year after flowering and again in spring will prolong their life and keep them in shape.
