Clearing corn and courgettes

Garden News (UK) - - What To Do -

My sweetcorn crop this year was one of the best ever and many cobs were not only consumed straight from the plant but many now also reside in my freezer for winter ‘tasties’. These tall, woody stems are standing high in the sky and it’s time to remove them. They’re difficult to compost but I cut them into short lengths and spread them through my large compost heap. Any organic material can be composted and nothing is wasted on my plot. While cleaning those away, the courge es that grew among them can also follow them on to the compost heap.

Old courge es are composted
