Soaking the dry seeds in a jar of tepid water for 24 hours prior can softens the hard coat and helps to speed up germination.
Alternatively, carefully chip away a small piece of the hard seed coat with a sharp knife to allow moisture into the seed.
Sow several seeds per pot of compost, spacing them evenly and cover them over with around 1.5cm (¾in) of compost.
Water the pot to soak the compost and then stand them in gentle heat. Don’t water again until the seedlings start to emerge.
