Check potatoes in store

Maincrop potatoes lifted in October and put into storage should keep well for several months, if storage conditions are right. These should be cool, but frost-free, as dark as possible and dry. Tubers also need to be where they’ve some air flow to prevent moulds developing. Paper or hessian sacks are fine, or store potatoes in boxes or large open buckets. Check regularly or when you take some out for use and make sure they’re firm. Any showing rot need removing to prevent it spreading.
