7 Attract wildlife

-

A racting beneficial wildlife will create a thriving, balanced ecosystem. Lure bees, bu erflies and pollinators with plants that bear single flowers (many double flowers have li le pollen or nectar, or it’s tricky to access). Bring in lacewings – voracious feeders of aphids and insect eggs – by planting cosmos or leaving a patch of dandelions. Put up bug hotels to a ract insects and solitary bees. Bug hotels can also lure ladybirds, which devour greenfly, blackfly and red spider mite. Leave a pile of logs and leaves for ground beetles, toads and hedgehogs, which feast on slugs. Make a small wildlife pond that’ll quickly become a home to frogs and newts, but don’t introduce fish or they’ll eat everything in it!
