INSPECT CITRUS UNDER COVER

-

Citrus trees growing in pots such as lemons, limes and oranges should be overwintering in a light, frost free place. A conservatory or heated greenhouse is ideal and in these conditions the plants will tick over without too many problems, and through winter fruit will ripen and new blossom will start to develop. The plants will still need occasional watering to keep the compost moist, but not wet. Through the winter months feed monthly with a high potash fertiliser to help fruit and flower development. Also check for signs of pests, such as scale insects, and if spotted, scrape them off.
