START TO WINTER WASH FRUIT TREES

-

Once the last of the leaves are off fruit trees you can give the bare branches a winter wash. This is a solution of natural plant extracts and fa y acids that helps to clean up trees of pests such as woolly aphids, scale insects and aphid eggs over wintering on the bark or in cracks of older trunks. You can buy solution online or at garden centres. The diluted spray is applied to the bare branches, paying particular a ention to directing the jet into cracks in older stems. If you have a severe infestation of these pests, repeat in January.
