Plot the route of your path on the ground with marking chalk. Make sure it’s at least 60cm (2ft) wide to allow for wheelbarrows. Dig out to a depth of 5cm (2in), roughly fla en the bo om and compact by walking up and down.

Edge the path to prevent loose filling materials escaping. Lay landscape fabric along the length of the path and peg down. Fill the void with your chosen filling material and rake level.
