SHARPEN AND OIL SPADES

Brush off dirt and clean blades with an oily rag. Remember to oil the handles as well as the blades. Sharpen the blades of tools such as hoes and spades with an oil stone – available from most hardware shops – before putting them away somewhere dry. A sharp edge makes slicing through winter soil and felling weeds much easier.
