Plant a hellebore

-

What’s not to love about one of winter’s most welcome sights? You could do no wrong by planting one of these beauties in your garden or a container, as they’re so easy to grow. Often evergreen, they’ll provide foliage through the year too, and then intricate, lovely nodding flowers between winter and spring. They love shade, and if planted around the garden at will, they’ll form natural clumps over time. To keep them at their best, mulch around them during autumn as they appreciate rich fertile soil with lots of organic ma er incorporated. When you see the flowers coming through, cut back old stems, as this will tidy up the plant and leave room for the flowers to be seen. Po ed hellebores may enjoy a drink of liquid tomato feed to encourage more flowers.
