CHECK ON GARLIC

-

Garlic is susceptible to fungal diseases which spread in humid conditions, so avoid overcrowding plants. Check your garlic, particularly during periods of long wet weather, for leek rust, which causes bright yellow-orange spots on the leaves. Yellowing and wilting of the foliage is a sign of onion white rot. If the plant pulls out easily, without resistance, it’s because the fungus has caused the roots to rot and you’ll see a fluffy white mould on the base of the bulb. Remove any diseased plant material promptly to keep the fungus from spreading.
