Chopping cherries and harvesting pea sticks
Before the festivities begin there are still tasks to be carried out on the allotment. At the bo om of my plot there are tall cherry trees, and now they’ve dropped their leaves a prune back is required. Also there are no birds nesting in them so no wildlife is disturbed. Helped by my neighbouring plot holder Dai, and staying far away from each other, these are given a good trim. This will allow more light onto my plot as no vegetables like to have too much shade. The added bonus of this trim is that I have plenty of ‘whippy’ branches to cut up into next year’s pea sticks. Merry Christmas to all our readers!
