Prune and tie in climbing roses
To save climbing roses becoming a tangle of stems and lurching about in the wind this winter, tame them a little so their root systems don’t become damaged. It’s easier to see what you’re doing now too, as there’s no leaves in the way. Cut out a few really old branches, then trim the flowering stems by a third. Also cut off any dead or dying branches. Tie in loose ends with twine to secure them. Give them a mulch, too.
