PLANT OUT INDOOR HYACINTHS

-

Don’t throw your Christmas indoor hyacinths away. Planted in the garden they’ll bloom the following year, providing the bulbs are allowed to die down naturally and planted as soon as their beauty has faded. Strip the dead flowers from the stems but leave the stem and leaves intact. Dig a hole and plant the clump of bulbs about 10cm (4in) deep, working the soil around the leaves. They’ll feed the bulbs before they die down in spring.
