CARE FOR HIPPEASTRUMS
Once hippeastrum flowers start to fade, snap or cut them off, leaving the main stem. This stops seed formation and dying flowers dripping on furnishings. Then allow the long leaves to grow and feed the bulb so it can recover and bloom again next year. Leaves are long and can be straggly but never cut them off. Move the plant to a bright windowsill. The old flower stem will shrivel so remove when dead. Keep compost moist, but not wet, and give a high-potash feed fortnightly.
