LIME YOUR BRASSICA BEDS

-

Garden lime is used to raise the soil pH, making the soil less acidic, as well as to add calcium to the soil. Calcium is a vital nutrient for most plants, especially leafy crops, but it mustn’t be added to soil where lime-haters are to be grown. Apply to apples to prevent bitter pit and where brassicas will structure and can help to break down clay soils. It must never be applied at the same time as fertiliser so now’s the perfect opportunity. Sprinkle it on in or scatter over the surface of dug soil.
