KEEP KALE AND IT’LL CROP LONGER

Keep cropping kale (and other brassicas) and removing damaged or ro ing leaves to keep plants healthy, but don’t be too quick to remove any plants you think have ‘had it’ or begin to go to seed in a few weeks.

Kale flower shoots are delicious and taste like kaleflavou­red sprouting broccoli; they’re used in exactly the same way, too. Plants normally start to flower in March, but some gardeners dig them up in the next few weeks to make way for other plants or to prepare the bed for spring. Hold off on consigning
