Cut back overgrown honeysuckle
You can lightly prune honeysuckle at any time of year but for major renovation jobs wait until midwinter when the stems are dormant. Honeysuckle looks great for a few years after it’s planted, but if left unchecked it can soon get overgrown, winding its way into neighbouring trees and threatening to overwhelm fences and archways. Cut back as hard as you need up to 60cm (2ft) away from the ground. The regrowth will be vigorous so be prepared to tie in and train the new shoots that will appear in spring.
