Revive
Certain shrubs, such as camellia, buddleja, corylus, some evergreen viburnums and shrubby euphorbias, tend to lose their form and structure over time. A hard cut back between now and mid-March to around 30cm (1ft) from soil level will see them rejuvenate with renewed vigour. Use a sharp pruning saw, making cuts above obvious or dormant buds. Then, come mid-spring, your shrub will burst forth again with new growths. Keep an eye on these as the season progresses, thinning dense clusters of stems as they emerge and mature.
