New ways with cuttings

-

On these cold days after opening the bean trench it’s great to retire to the warm greenhouse and prepare new cu ings for this season. My chrysanthemums have sent up some strong shoots, encouraged by the heat beneath them. These are cut off approximately 10cm (4in) long and the lower leaves removed before making a clean cut at a leaf node. I’m trying a new rooting agent this year called Seafeed Rooting Gel from Envii, alongside the standard hormonerooting compound. This is organic, so I hope it works, as this brings me closer to my goal of being fully organic! It’s a pleasure to see new life appearing and gives me high hopes for the coming spring.
