leaves of deep and vivid red. It’s going to grow into a real eye catcher!

I’ve been scouring seed catalogues and back issues of Garden News and have my seed and plant wish list for the year. I fancy a Rosa mundi, the cheerful yellow pom poms of calendula ‘Bull’s Eye’ and cucumber ‘Merlin’, which sounds magical!

At the allotment, I planted more ‘Glen Ample’ raspberries and we’re making more raised beds. We’ve changed the plot bit by bit so it’s much more manageable and productive. It’s been very wet, but we’re enjoying getting outside in the fresh air and getting on with a project outside!

I totally agree with author David Hobson when he said, ‘I grow plants for many reasons, to please my soul, to challenge the elements or to challenge my patience, for novelty or for nostalgia, but mostly for the joy in seeing them grow.’
