Last spring, mail order seed firms experienced unprecedented demand when the nation turned to gardening during the first lockdown. As a result, many gardeners didn’t manage to get hold of what they wanted, so place an order as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. A tried-andtested approach is to make a long wish list, then edit it down to something more reasonable before placing an order; it’s all too easy to get carried away and order far too much, only to find that you don’t have the time or space to sow everything!
