GET ON TOP OF WEEDS

-

If you’ve just taken on a new allotment plot, then you be might be faced with having to deal with brambles and other perennial weeds. Regain control by chopping back tall top growth with a brush cu er, then dig them out, roots and all. Don’t be intimidated, clear a li le of the plot and plant it up, before clearing another section. Elsewhere, prevent annual weeds from popping up on newly cultivated patches of soil by covering until you’re ready to start sowing or planting. Use old carpet, landscape material or sheets of cardboard, and roll it back to expose soil as required.
