FEED BULBS

-

The hardy bulbs that will soon be

filling our gardens with colour should last for many years, and many will get be er every season. But that’s only possible if they’re allowed to die down naturally after flowering, and if they’re fed. A general feed every year is helpful for bulbs growing in the garden but bulbs in pots must be fed, especially if they’re competing with other plants for nutrients. A high-potash liquid fertiliser is ideal for containers, applied once a week if the pots contain bedding plants. In the garden, a good flower fertiliser, such as a rose food, can be applied to feed all bulbs. It’s best applied now, while the plants are actively growing.
