LAST CHANCE TO PLANT BARE-ROOT ROSES
Bare-root season is nearly over, so to plant roses in numbers for a lower outlay, order immediately. As soon as your roses arrive, soak the roots in a bucket of water for a few hours. Dig a hole that will accommodate the often long and awkward roots – the roots can be pruned if necessary. Add well-rotted manure and scatter a basedressing of mycorrhizal fungi in the hole. These beneficial fungi will help the rose to extend its root area. Hold the rose upright in the hole while you backfill the soil, firm in and water well. The grafting point should be at or just proud of the final soil surface level.
