GROW JERUSALEM ARTICHOKES

-

This tall, leafy plant in the sunflower family has splendid yellow blooms in summer, but it’s for the tasty knobbly tubers that you usually grow it on your veg patch. Garden centres or online companies have tubers in stock now for planting, which you harvest in autumn and winter to eat raw or cooked as you might a potato. It has a nutty flavour. Plant 30cm (1ft) apart, 15cm (6in) deep in full sun – you can even plant them in large pots as a statuesque, attractive flower display with added harvesting benefits!
