More shows on the way
With early flower shows cancelled or hastily revised, and international travel restricted, venues are announcing new gardening events to help lift the nation’s mood.
The Malvern Autumn Show, currently scheduled for the weekend of September 25-26, may have extra dates added as organisers have been overwhelmed by the number of specialist growers and nurseries wishing to attend.
After cancelling the RHS Malvern Spring Festival in May, The Three Counties Showground team has announced the ‘Midsummer Garden Life Festival’, a new addition to its summer events schedule. The two-day festival, running from June 23-24, is inspired by Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The premier event is to be a cultural celebration of plants, nature and creativity, with visitors able to choose plants from leading growers, nurseries and artisan retailers.
Following the success of last year’s Specialist Plant Fair, two more have been arranged at Borde Hill Garden, in Sussex, for 2021. The first event will take place on April 18 and the second on September 12.
An exciting line-up of independent UK nurseries from across five counties in the South East (including several RHS exhibitors) will attend both events, complete with the Plant Fairs Roadshow Plant Doctor and Borde Hill’s gardening team answering gardening questions and problems.
