Glasshouse pane appeal
AScottish gardening charity has launched an appeal to create a new glasshouse facility at its flagship headquarters in an Edinburgh park. The Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society, known as The Caley, wants the unheated structure to help produce plants for demonstrations, broadening its educational facility in Edinburgh’s Saughton Park.
The new glasshouse will be sited on the location of a previous structure, known as the Teaching Garden area of the walled garden.
Established in 1809, The Caley has grown to become Scotland’s national charity for horticulture and gardening, serving its membership and the Scottish gardening community with advice, support and a range of courses designed to benefit professional and amateur gardening and horticulture. The Caley has members throughout Scotland, as well as international members, who join online talks and demonstrations.
Anyone donating £50 or more can be listed on the ‘Be a Pane in our Glass’ virtual donor page on The Caley website.
