Summer raspberries

-

It’s easy to get into a muddle with pruning raspberries if you grow autumn and summer ones together and leave pruning until later. Now’s the time to cut back summer raspberries that have finished fruiting. They’re easy to tell apart from the others because the pale woody stems are distinct from the green shoots of the new canes and the slightly woodier but still-green autumn raspberries. Cut the old canes out completely at the base, cutting right back to the ground. Avoid leaving a short stump of stem at the bottom.
