MAKING THE MOST OF WATER

-

You can’t have a garden without water, therefore there are a few things you can do to use it wisely and maximise every drop you can. I’ve created a water trough from a small cattle trough, connecting it to an ornamental Japanese drain to catch the excess water run-off from the greenhouse, while still filling the water butt. Putting a couple of boards on top allows you to store a watering can for ‘dunking’ when needed. It also needs a plank leaning on the inside to allow anything that falls in to get back out. After watering well, borders will benefit from a good mulch to keep the moisture in the ground. I’m using Plant Grow (www.plantgrow. co.uk) as they deliver in large bags, which are perfect for a border.
