Trying a new bean
My climbing bean varieties are usually set in stone as they work well for me and they’re an essential part of my freezer crop for autumn and winter. I know what works so why change it? However, a surprise packet of ‘Black Knight’ beans turned up in spring from Suttons Seeds. These were a trial crop and instead of green, the exterior was an almost purple colour. They’ve been plastered in flowers and have cropped very well. The proof would be in the eating; I can report they kept much of their dark colour when cooked and tasted delicious! These will be on my seed order next year.
