CARE FOR YOUR SEDUMS

-

■ All sedums like light, really well-drained, bordering on dry soil, and only need a light water (unless they’re in pots) if the weather has been exceedingly dry.

■ Leave deciduous types to crisp up in autumn through winter (unless stems get really soggy) where they’ll look statuesque in russet hues.

■ Pick out dead and past-it foliage from creeping evergreens and trim back lightly when needed through the year.

■ Trim deciduous stems back to the ground in spring.

■ Divide congested clumps every few years in spring to freshen up the plants.

■ Support tall, flopping sedums well through summer.
