TAKE PELARGONIUM CUTTINGS

-

Many pelargoniums used for general bedding are grown from seed each spring. Those with colourful leaves and more fancy types have to be grown from cuttings and the young plants overwintered in a frost-free place. Take cuttings now so they’re well rooted before winter. Pelargoniums are tolerant of drought and you can let the cutting material dry out before rooting. Use shoot tips, remove any flowers, trim below a leaf joint, remove the leafy stipules at the base and excess leaves so there’s just one leaf. Put into pots of cuttings compost and don’t water until the next day.
