REMOVE SUCKERS OFF SHRUBS AND TREES
Many shrubs and trees are grafted onto rootstocks and these can send up shoots. If left they may grow vigorously and even dominate the plant, causing it to grow slowly or even die. This can occur in many trees, including fruit trees, magnolias, witch hazels and viburnums. Cut these off as low as possible, below the soil level. It’s easier to do it now when you can clearly see the difference in the foliage, which will be slightly different.
