TRIM LAVENDER PLANTS

-

Lavender needs regular pruning to keep it neat and tidy. It should be lightly trimmed each time because it won’t produce new shoots from old, leafless, gnarled stems. Pruning must start early, the year it’s planted, to keep it neat and compact. You can’t let it grow unchecked and then prune it hard. The most important prune is as soon as flowers have faded, cutting away flower stems and the tips of leafy shoots. Regrowth this winter will be minimal but if necessary bushes can be lightly clipped in spring, too.
