Divide perennials that suffered in heat

-

It’s usual to divide perennials when they’re totally dormant or just coming into growth, from October to March. But because the weather’s been so dry and many plants have already become dormant, it’s a good time to divide them now. Daylilies, hostas and others that have started to die back can be lifted and divided. It’s useful to divide and replant them now while the soil is warm and, with autumn rains, they’ll have a chance to make root growth before the cold of winter.
