Autumn events planned at Barnsdale
Popular Barnsdale Gardens in Rutland has a series of events and courses planned through autumn. Next up is a breakfast and guided walk entitled ‘Autumn at Barnsdale’, which takes place on October 5. Others lined up for October are ‘Vegetables All Year Round’ and ‘Planting Design’, which are already proving popular. Barnsdale was created in 1983 by BBC Gardeners’ World presenter and GN columnist Geoff Hamilton. He bought the Victorian farmhouse with more than five acres of land and embarked on a ‘great experiment’ of peat-free and chemical-free growing, which continues today with 38 separate gardens now under the stewardship of Geoff’s son Nick.
