GROW GARLIC

-

The reason you plant garlic in autumn is so the bulbs have a two month or so period of cold dormancy so they can develop well – just like many other bulbs. Planting them now, in October, means earlier crops, too. You can plant them straight out in the garden or, if you have claggy wet soil, plant them in modules to grow indoors before planting them out next spring. Simply choose a sunny, open spot in wellprepared, rich soil. Plant individual segments with the flat part facing down. Outdoors, plant cloves 15cm apart and 2.5cm deep.
