STEP BY STEP
1 Improve the soil by forking in compost. Take out a planting hole at least twice the size of the rootball.
2 Soak the roots in a bucket of water. Remove the ties from the canes and tease out the roots if they’re very dense.
3 Place the plant in the hole and replace the soil, gently firming around the roots. Water thoroughly.
4 Tie the stems horizontally against the supports to encourage the plant to cover the trellis from the base upwards.
