I’VE FOUND THE PERFECT CAULIFLOWER
I’ll soon be planting my shallot and garlic sets in the Kitchen Garden, so I need to make sure I have the space for them. With that in mind I’m harvesting my ‘Andromeda’ cauliflowers, which have stayed nice and white without being covered, even with the extremely sunny summer we’ve had. I must admit, the seeds of this variety aren’t the cheapest, but they’re worth it because you don’t need to waste time covering the curds with leaves to keep them white. I also find that if you cover the curds at this time of year, you just about always get slugs in there and they eat them, leaving them discoloured an unappetising. Therefore, anything that makes it easier for me to grow a good cauliflower is well worth it!
