Good compost needs space and planning

-

Providing the nutrients my productive plot needs involves a lot of planning and space to make copious amounts of compost. My two large, open compost areas take the bulk of the waste that comes off the plot, but my three ‘Dalek’ composters take much of my home waste, which comes from food preparation. This is collected in a bin outside our kitchen door and, when full, is tipped into these bins. These bins are slow to compost so it’s useful on Sunday mornings when a local pigeon fancier drops over a bag of pigeon droppings. Added to these bins, this provides the ‘heat’ to create great compost.
