Hemerocallis
Flowering can tail off if daylily plants become congested, so division and replanting is the answer. This is easily done by cutting back any remaining leaves, digging up the plant, shaking off the soil and using an old kitchen knife to cut the plant into pieces. Sometimes the plant can simply be pulled apart. Replant larger pieces straight away. Small pieces can be potted in fresh compost; the roots may need trimming back and it’s important to work the soil or compost in among the roots.
