Apples on the sunny south side of a tree often ripen earlier than those on the north side.

Store apples as cool as possible but avoid letting them freeze.

Fruits damaged by codling moth maggots tend to drop early, but this doesn’t mean the remaining fruits are ready to pick.

Avoid wrapping apples in newspaper as you can’t see what’s happening to them.
