Will I be able to make my own wine from Chardonnay grapevine plants I’ve grown from pips?
Martyn McKenzie, via Facebook Unfortunately, it’s very unlikely you’ll get any Chardonnay and, although you might in time have a few fruits if they’re carefully pruned, these will be inferior to those of the parent plant. All commercially available grapevines are varieties that have been selected over many years and grafted onto pest-resistant rootstocks.
