What is causing my damson leaves to curl?

The pest is called the leafcurling aphid. There are approved organic sprays but I never use them as the aphids are protected within the curled-up leaves and spraying will probably do more harm as you’ll kill ladybirds and other beneficial insects. The only consolation is that the crop isn’t likely to be affected.
